Our Activities

In addition to the club's monthly meeting and garden related lectures our members participate in a variety of garden and social activities.  They include: Fall Fest at a local nursery in October, Holiday potluck in December, Summer Picnic/Potluck usually in June, Members' and Friends Private Garden Tour usually in August, Summer Garden Party usually at the end of August. We also visit garden destinations such as Dunn gardens, Miller gardens, and Kruckeberg Botanic gardens.  We also visit the six "Secret Gardens of Lake Forest Park" every spring.  Group tours may be planned for Heronswood gardens, Bellevue Botanical garden, and Volunteer Park Conservatory.  You will also find us at many of our local plant nurseries including Sky Nursery, Swansons Nursery, Flower World, and  Sunnyside Nursery.  We also make general membership recruitment at such activities as the Commons Green Fair and other Commons activities.  Our Annual Plant Sale is held in Mid May.  Our members are known for producing and offering unique and unusual plants.

LFPGC Summer Picnic at Animal Acres 2025

Our annual summer picnic was held on June 24th at Animal Acres Park. We enjoyed salads, chicken, desserts and company. We took the opportunity to explore Animal Acres and the “Otter Garden” which the garden club helps maintain.. Club member Linda Holman, who heads up the Master Gardeners’ and pollinator gardens, gave a tour.

Lake Forest Park Garden Club

For 100 years the Lake Forest Garden Club has embraced these three goals:

Civic improvement, conservation, and horticulture:

  • Civic improvement - Our garden club works to beautify our community through landscaping and other projects.

  • Conservation - Our garden club advocates for the preservation of natural habitats.

  • Horticulture - Our garden club focuses on the study of plants, flowers, and other aspects of gardening. For example, our garden club meetings always include programs about horticulture and design.

  • We are one of the four organizations involved with "The Secret Garden Tour of Lake Forest Park"

  • We are proud to be "Friends of 3rd Place Commons"

  • We produce our own plants for our Spring Plant Sale
